Malia’s device was ‘failing’. It was going off every 3 and 5 minutes overriding the prior mode. Relentless. Her voice was changing and she had that weird feeling in her throat each time.

We tried to make an appointment with any hospital we could with a VNS department locally but, to no avail. Since any adjustments outside of the auto ramp-up must be done in person, that meant a trip to Seattle.

Up and back in a day.

Malia’s device’s heart rate baseline was set too low. Causing it to go off with even the littlest amount heart rate increase. They lowered the baseline/threshold and sent us on our way.

its been about a week and we’re doing ok.

Pretty sure we have seen the device even catch the beginning of a seizure once or twice.
